DEADAIR

A Project Zomboid Build 42 survival server. Knox County, Kentucky โ€” July 1993. The grid is still up. It will not stay that way.
No signal. No rescue. No exit.

How to tune in

The server is password-gated and will not accept anyone who hasn't been given it. The address is below โ€” the password is not published here. Ask in the group chat.

Port

Two things that trip everyone up
  1. Address and port go in separate boxes. Typing play.project-deadair.org:23415 into the address field will not connect.
  2. The favourites row may show the server as unreachable when added by hostname. That's a known quirk in the game's status check โ€” click join anyway.

Station diagnostics

Sampled directly from the server every 60 seconds. Nothing here is estimated โ€” if a value can't be read, it reads UNKNOWN.

ยง03 Uptime record

Signal reliability

Each bar is one day. Full height and green means the station answered every single check that day. The record starts empty and fills in from the right.

ยง04 Field manual

The rules of this world

This is not default Project Zomboid. Every setting was chosen to keep the world dangerous and worth returning to for months, not weeks.

Shamblers

Slow. Romero-classic. Normal strength, toughness and senses โ€” deliberately not randomised, so combat is learnable and deaths feel earned. The danger is never one zombie. It is two hundred.

The horde grows

Population climbs to double by around day 75. The world does not plateau โ€” it keeps getting heavier the longer you survive in it.

They come back

Cleared towns slowly refill. But a cell must sit unseen for 24 hours first, so anywhere you actually live stays clear. Your base will not repopulate behind your back.

Scarcity

Loot sits well below normal. Guns stay findable โ€” this is rural Kentucky โ€” but ammunition is rare. Bullets are the real currency. Everything else you make yourself.

Full PVP

No safety toggle. Anyone can hurt anyone, at any time, including by accident. There is no mechanical protection from another survivor outside your safehouse.

Safehouses

Your only real defence. Claimable immediately. No trespass, no looting, no fire from outsiders โ€” and claims survive a full year of you not logging in.

Two-hour days

Long days, long nights. The world pauses when nobody is online, so nothing rots while you are away. Time only moves when someone is living in it.

Radio silence

Player positions are hidden on the map. No minimap. Maps need light to read. If you want to find each other, use a radio โ€” or shout.

Nothing is coming

Power fails. Water stops. Nobody restores them. Food preservation, farming, hunting and fishing are not side content here โ€” they are the plan.

ยง05 Forecast

How this ends

The world runs on a schedule. Because time only advances while someone is playing, these are measured in hours actually survived โ€” not calendar days.

Day 0 ยท 9 July 1993
The knock at the door
Nine days after the first case. The grid is up, the taps run, and most of Knox County is still indoors.
Day 30 ยท ~60 hours played
The lights go out
Power fails permanently. Freezers die first โ€” everything in them follows. This is the deadline for learning to cure, dry and jar food.
Day 45 ยท ~90 hours played
The taps run dry
Mains water stops. Rain collection and wells become the only supply, and every drop has to be made safe.
Day 75 ยท ~150 hours played
Peak density
The dead reach their maximum concentration โ€” roughly double the starting population. Towns you cleared in month one are no longer the same place.
Ongoing
The county takes itself back
Grass splits the asphalt, vines take the fences, and the roads stop being roads. Erosion is slow here โ€” you will watch it happen.
